Enlarging images for posters / Large Format Printing

  • Upload the image with Adobe Photoshop and open the window "Image Size" (Image -> Image Size). Remove the tick in front of "Resample Image" and set the desired image size in centimeters. If, as a result, the image resolution is less than 100 dpi (Pixel/Inches), it has to be interpolated. Interpolate the image in several steps to 100 dpi (firstly, tick "Resample Image"). Choose method of interpolation_"bicubic smoother". At the last step of the interpolation to 100 dpi, you choose "bicubic sharper". For checking purposes, you should print a 1:1-section and view it from a distance of 2-3m.
  • Some Large Format Plotters or ink-jet printers tend to print with a reddish tint. In some cases (especially concerning skin tones) it therefore makes sense to reduce the red segments with the help of curves. In doing so you can use pictures with a high resolution (High, Super-High) for 18/1-posters (2.52 x 3.56m) or even bigger posters.
